J’avais parlé ici de Denzil Porter (Bronx) à l’occasion de son clip hommage au morceau Award Tour des A Tribe Called Quest. Je viens de tomber sur son dernier clip avec le rappeur 360 (Queens) qui revient sur la rivalité historique entre le Bronx et le Queens. J’en profite pour vous balancer sa dernière mixtape Porter’s Pot sortie fin 2012 et qui est toujours dispo en free download ici.

Pour ce Throwback Maxi CD #53 j’ai choisi un maxi datant de 1995 d’un artiste qui n’a pas fait carrière Whitey Don. Signé chez Jive, il n’a fait qu’un album « Whitey Don » sorti en 1997 dont ce maxi est extrait. Ce titre avait pas mal tourné à l’époque surtout grâce à la présence de Phife (A Tribe Called Quest) et Chip-Fu (Fu-Schnickens). Pour les collectionneurs l’album tourne sur Amazon.com à $89!

Chris Lighty vient de nous quitter tragiquement à 44 ans. Véritable homme de l’ombre ce natif du Bronx à commencé sa carrière comme « porteur » de disques pour DJ Red Alert et « tour manager » pour BDP et Jungle Brothers. Mais c’est en créant Violator Management qu’il s’est vraiment fait un nom. Manager de Busta Rhymes, Mobb Deep, LL Cool J, De La Soul A Tribe Called Quest il était aussi à l’origine des signatures de Fat Joe, Beatnuts & Chi Ali chez Relativity.
